Safety Tips
LMV Market connects buyers and sellers directly, so a little common sense goes a long way. Follow these guidelines to trade safely and avoid the most common scams.
Meet in a safe, public place
Always arrange to meet during daylight in a busy public location such as a shopping centre, café, or police-designated safe-exchange zone. Avoid inviting strangers to your home or visiting theirs alone.
Inspect before you pay
Examine the item in person and test that it works before handing over any money. For high-value items like vehicles or electronics, bring a knowledgeable friend or request relevant documents and serial numbers.
Use secure payment methods
Prefer cash for in-person deals or a traceable transfer once you've verified the item. Never pay in advance for something you haven't seen, and avoid gift cards, wire transfers to strangers, or cryptocurrency for casual sales.
Spot and avoid scams
Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true, sellers who refuse to meet in person, requests for upfront fees or “shipping deposits”, and pressure to act immediately. Genuine sellers are happy to answer questions.
Protect your personal information
Share only what's needed to complete a deal. Don't reveal bank login details, one-time passcodes, or copies of ID documents. Keep conversations on record until the transaction is complete.
Report suspicious activity
If a listing or user seems fraudulent, stop communicating and report it to us so we can take action. Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, walk away.
A quick reminder
LMV Market is a free platform that lets people post and find classified ads. We are not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers and cannot guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any item listed. Always use your own judgement, and if a deal feels wrong, don't go through with it.
